    Abstract
This study uses data from Uganda to examine the influence of employee attitudes towards performance of students in institutions of learning. Researching about teacher attitudes is predictive of relevant outcomes, independent of other school characteristics such as the demographic mix of the school’s students. Different attitudes by teaching staff and government will induce the teachers to give their best to the organization. This study examines the teacher attitudes about their teaching profession on the causes of poor academic performance among secondary school students .Subjects for the study were 25 teachers randomly drawn from a school. Questionnaires were used to collect relevant data for the study. Data was collected using self administered questionnaires and an interview guide. Bothe qualitative and quantitave methods were used to collect the information. It was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS 13.0) programme using Pearson’s correlation coefficient index. From the findings of the study, it was concluded that there is a relationship between teacher attitudes and performance of students in institutions of learning.
