    The impact of participatory leadership on employee performance

    Abstract
    The study ought to investigate the impact of participatory leadership style on employee performance of Samona Products (U) Ltd Rubaga Division. The purpose of this study was to find out whether participatory leadership style has an impact on employees in achieving organizational goals, efficiency and ability to perform. The objectives which guided the study were; the impact of participatory leadership style on employee performance, the relationship between participatory leadership and employee performance and the challenges of participatory leadership on employee performance of employees of Samona Products (U) Ltd in Rubaga Division of Kampala. The literature review was organized according to the research objectives where literature of different scholars was compared with the topic of the study. The conceptual review was used to relate independent and dependent variables. The research study followed a research design of both quantitative and qualitative data approaches, the population size was 54 (fifty four) and sample size was 40(forty) respondents and the sampling technique was stratified sampling. Data collected was analyzed using (SPSS) computer software programme. Descriptive statistics was employed and the findings were participatory leadership if well managed can have an impact on employee performance, they also showed that participatory leadership was related to employee performance of Samona Products (U) Ltd and also majority of the respondents observed that participatory challenges have impact on employee performance. Conclusion was that employee expresses their desires to execute organizational goals under participatory leadership rather than the existing one which is autocratic. Recommendations of the study were that empowering was needed through developing teams and according some measure of power and authority to team leaders, Samona Products (U) Ltd would reduce the dominance of authoritative leadership style by providing a system that provides a level of professionalism
