dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the research is to examine the market access and productivity of citrus fruits in Serere District. The specific objectives as market information contributes to productivity of citrus fruits establish the influence of value addition on productivity and analyze the impact of distribution chain on productivity of citrus. The researcher employed a case study design was used to undertake the study with the help of qualitative approach, quantitative approach and document review. The researcher had a sample size of 66 respondents drawn from the total number of 80 people of the entire population which comprises of extension officers and farmers. The researcher obtained primary data obtained through field survey as well as secondary data have been elicited through tabulation, interpretation, diagrammatic representation. This are supplemented by the statistical records and collected from the concerned departments or offices for evaluation. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews for collecting data from the field. The data was about market access and in regards to productivity of the citrus fruits was collected and analyzed using the statistical package for social scientists (SPSS) to generate the tables for which analysis and discussion were made. The findings were revealed that market information had positive responses; value addition had positive responses on productivity that need to be upheld and identified challenges facing value addition. Distribution chain also had positive response on productivity of citrus fruits. However the relationship between market access and productivity of citrus fruits showed positive statistical correlation. Indicating that decrease in market access affects the productivity of citrus fruitsen_US
