| dc.description.abstract | The study sought the effect of procurement planning on the performance of public sector organizations basing on Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). The study objectives discussed were; to examine the effects of the methods used in procurement on the performance of public sector organizations, to analyze the effect of the source of funding on the performance of public sector organizations and finally to find out the effect of budgeting on the performance of public sector organizations. As much as public sector organizations are embracing the element of procurement, it is not yet yielding better results as per the performance of these organizations, therefore the researcher discovered the effect of procurement planning on the performance of public sector organizations and its possibility of yielding better performance measures.
A cross- sectional design was used whereby qualitative and quantitative data was gathered in order to establish the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The findings are from a study conducted among selected staff members of Uganda Wildlife Authority. A total of 44 respondents out of the total population of 50 participated through questionnaires that were given to them basing on the purposive sampling technique when selecting them. The data collected from the respondents, using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was analyzed and presented in tabular form with frequencies and percentages. According to the data analyzed, most of the respondents agree that the method used in procurement has an effect on performance, that the source of funding for the procurement planning activities also determines the level of performance and is not entirely dependent on government funds and finally, budgeting plays a big role in better financial priorities, cost effectiveness and good performance all as agreed upon by majority of the respondents.
The researcher recommended that UWA should explore new revenue sources and should properly manage the traditional sources, it should improve on some areas as far as their procurement planning and there is need for continuous training on budgeting. Suggestions are made to government and policy makers in Uganda on the critical issues of procurement planning essential. The researcher concluded that basing on the results revealed there is a positive relationship between procurement planning and public sector organizations particularly in Uganda Wildlife Authority. | en_US |
