dc.description.abstractThis study was carried out to find out the effects of rewards on employee performance of employees in Nkozi hospital. It was carried out in Nkozi sub-county found in Mpigi district Mawokota south constituency. The study population was the employees of Nkozi hospital and the study focused on getting these workers’ views about whether and how recognition, Incentive pay and promotion influence their performance at work. Literature was reviewed to supplement and support the research findings. The internet and text books were mainly used as major sources of literature. This literature greatly contributed to the study and the findings were compared with the literature. Questionnaires were used as means of data collection and 30 questionnaires were distributed to the health workers. The data collected was then analysed properly to produce information. The findings of the study indicated that the employees in Nkozi hospital were positively and negatively affected by Recognition, Incentive pay and promotions. The positive effects included: improved employee performance, increased job satisfaction, increased productivity, increased morale for work and increased customer care whereas the negative effects included: decline in performance, job dissatisfaction, and decreased morale for work, high rate of turnover. The study findings facilitated the recommendations that the research put to the management of Nkozi hospital. They included: training health workers, increasing health workers salaries, caring about workers issues and promoting them where necessary. It finally ends with suggestions to future researchers and what they should focus on when carrying out research in the same field and area of study.en_US
