The role of teamwork on organizational performance:
Abstract
The major concern of this study was to examine the role of teamwork on organizational
performance. The objectives of the study were; to establish the effects of team conflict
management on organizational performance, to establish the relationship between team
communication and organizational performance and lastly to establish the effects of team
leadership on organizational performance. The researcher used both qualitative and quantitative
methodology using cross-sectional survey to collect data for the study. Based on the literature
reviewed and results from respondents, the revealed that teamwork is a strategy that has a
potential to improve the performance of individuals and organizations, but it needs to be nurtured
over time. The study also discovered that teams offer greater participation, challenges and
feelings of accomplishment of a given task and on the same note, respondents also agreed that
teamwork is vital performance strategy that investors and managers of organizations rely on
teams to make investment and other economic decisions in order to continue to compete
successfully in a tough, competitive and global business arena. In assessing the issue of conflict,
the study found out that management of ACF discloses all the organizational policies and
procedures followed in recruitment, placement and orientation of employees to suit their
demands in the organization. Pertaining team communication, the study revealed that
management of ACF observes that organizational policies are formally and at times informally
communicated in line with the mission and vision of the organization and finally in assessing
team leadership, the study revealed that leadership is a driving force for improving a firm’s
performance. To conclude, the role of teamwork permits informed judgments when facing
economic, investment and other business decisions
