The effect of computerization on employee productivity
Abstract
The study focused on the effect of computerization and employee productivity using a study
of Uganda Revenue Authority, masaka.
The objectives of the study were to establish the relationship between computer use and
employees’ productivity, to establish the effect of appropriate computer packages on
employee productivity and to establish the effect of computers on the operation efficiency.
The study established the relationship between computer use and employee productivity. The
study used both the qualitative and quantitative research approaches for the data collection.
For the purpose of the research, the population constituted all staff members of Uganda
Revenue Authority.
A census was conducted for all the members of Uganda Revenue Authority using a
questionnaire. The response rate attained was 100%. The data collected was provided by the
staff members of Uganda Revenue Authority. The study revealed that organizations should
retain IT staff and develop backup plans. The findings revealed that the level of computers
had increased efficiency and productivity as the majority of the respondents answered that the
use of computers had incorporated quantitative targets with a high significant mean of 4.17,
this was supported by a variance of 0.769 refer to table 4.3
The researcher recommended that the organizations should embrace the use of computers and
services so as to have competitive edge and improve service delivery to customers, provides a
better solution to overcome those challenges in Organizations. The study mainly focused on
one organization hence there is need to replicate the study using many other organizations so
as to find out if there are any other factors on the effect of computer use and employees’
productivity
