| dc.description.abstract | The study set out to find out the relationship between human activities and floods in kilembe sub county, kasese district. The study had four objectives which were: examine the nature of human activities in flooding area of Kilembe in Kasese district, to assess how human activities have led to floods in kilembe Sub County in Kasese District, establish people’s perception of the causes of floods in Kilembe Sub County in Kasese District, and establish solutions to floods that are caused by human activities in Kilembe.
To achieve the objectives, the study employed 50 respondents to aid in the data collection; three data collection instruments namely questionnaires, interview guide and observation guide were used. A Case study design was used.
The findings revealed that, human activities like sand mining and construction, illegal irrigation farming, deforestation, socio-cultural activities, river diversion, among others have led to the flooding in areas of Bulembya, Kanyaruboga and Road-Barrier. It was found out that human activities have catalyzed flooding in those flooding areas direct with the consent that what the people are doing will impact negatively in the future. Other people have participated without the conscience of the results.
Generally, the study recommends that all stakeholders including; government agencies, NGOs, and the local people among others to collectively work together to create awareness through emphasizing out reaches and implement the policies that are concerned with the river usage and other water bodies. | en_US |
