Assessment of the role of TASO in improving the wellbeing of the HIV/AIDS youth victims in Usuk Sub county, Katakwi district
Abstract
The study sought to assess the role of TASO in improving the wellbeing of the HIV/AIDS youth victims in USUK sub county in Katakwi district and this is because of the increased prevalence of HIV/AIDS among the youth in Usuk sub county.
The specific objectives included to examine the contribution of TASO in improving the mental wellbeing of the HIV/AIDS youth victims, to examine the contribution of TASO in improving the social well being of the HIV/AIDS youth victims, and to find out how TASO has improved the physical wellbeing of the HIV/AIDS youth victims.
The research adopted a case study design using qualitative and quantitative research methodology and it involved a total of 50 respondents consisting of the youth, TASO staff, medical doctors, and local leaders among others. The respondents were selected through purposive and snowball sampling. The data was collected using questionnaires, interview guides and tables, graphs, and percentages were used to analyze data. The findings revealed that TASO has done great work in improving the wellbeing of the HIV/AIDS youth victims mentally, socially, and physically as discussed by the researcher.
The findings and conclusions helped the researcher to come up with recommendations such as poverty reduction, sensitization of people, collaboration between the government and the nongovernmental organization, among others.
