dc.description.abstractThe word "canteen" refers to a place where food and beverages are provided, typically in an institutional setting. The main goal of a canteen management system is to streamline operations and enhance the dining experience for users. This project focuses on developing a Web-Based Canteen Management System for higher institutions of learning using Uganda Martyrs University Masaka Campus as the case study. The study examines the challenges faced by canteen management, staff, and customers during the ordering and dining process. It explores how the canteen can leverage Information Technology to efficiently manage its operations and records. The study provides solutions for how best institutions of higher learning can optimize their canteen management processes. Many canteen management systems have struggled to meet users’ expectations. Efficiency and user satisfaction are significant concerns, prompting extensive research in recent years. In Uganda, developing a robust and scalable canteen management system has been a challenge. Traditional manual systems are plagued with issues such as long queues, order mismanagement, and payment inefficiencies. This system was developed using HTML and PHP as the programming languages and MySQL as the database management system. The development process involved designing the system architecture, user interfaces, and database structure. At the end of the project, a Web-Based Canteen Management System for Uganda Martyrs University Masaka Campus, which served as the case study, was successfully developeden_US
