    Abstract
The study on observance of women’s rights: an examination of its effects on the quality of life was carried in Bukinda Sub County, Kabale District South Western Uganda. It was because Gender equality and economic development goes hand in hand. It was firmly established that women had a big contribution in income generation but access to family property remained a big challenge. This is due to a number of cases, due to skewed relations of power, women occupied subordinate position. In many cultures, women were denied education, denial for the right to vote and to vie for political seats, unfairly burdened with donkey work with little control and enjoyment of proceeds, denied property rights, thrown out of their homes at their husbands’ death, suffering domestic violence, denied inheritance rights, raped, discriminated against or and sexually harassed at the workplace and in schools, and denied equal access to justice. The study used a Case Study design employing both qualitative and quantitative approach. The findings of the study recognised the effects of observance of women’s rights on the quality of life in Bukinda Sub County, Kabale District. it was concluded that, observance of women’s rights has to a certain degree affected and influenced the quality of life in Bukinda Sub County, Kabale District. It was recommended that, there is a need to ensure the equality and equity of gender like provision for equal opportunities to access education, political platforms, gender-based gatherings and social phenomena as well economic empowerment so as to avoid gender disparity; cultural norms including disparities in responsibilities of both males and females at home, educating males on the expense of females, revoking women from inheriting property, denial for some food stuffs from women and many others, must be stopped so as get the females on board from being marginalized, violence against women in families including battering, tormenting on them, forcing women for sex, corporal punishments, denial for the domestic basic needs, and other issues of that nature, should stop so as to ensure development, both girls and girls in educational institutions should be treated the same way to avoid discrimination.ie they should be given same tasks to operate on during the teaching/ learning process, need for laws that allow the women to have an opportunity to access property ownership including land for example Domestic Relation Bill.
