Enhancing institution performance using results based management (RBM) in teacher education at national teachers’ college Muni
Abstract
The research study investigated the enhancement of the institution’s performance using results based management (RBM) in Teacher Education at National Teachers’ College Muni. The
research study aimed to explore the factors influencing the adoption of RBM in the NTC, identify
the strategies put in place for a successful implementation of the RBM process in the NTC as well
as to propose actionable recommendations for integrating RBM into the NTC’s processes and
culture. The researcher considered the descriptive research design type and used the survey for the
data collection technique, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods in the survey.
Data was collected from 45 respondents and analyzed using statistical tools. The findings revealed
that the key areas of strength included the positive impact of RBM on organizational culture and
the leadership role of management in the RBM process. However, there were notable concerns
regarding resource allocation and the organization of review workshops. The research study
concluded that despite the fact that the institution management takes lead in the results-based
management process, has policies and procedures in place to support the RBM process and
introduce the changes within the NTC properly and effectively deal with resistance, the
involvement of the staff in the planning, monitoring and evaluation processes of the workplans
and budgets of the institution is still wanting. For future research, the research proposed that future
research be undertaken on the relationship between RBM and performance enhancement in areas
such as educational quality and graduate quality, among others conducted to examine components
of RBM acceptance and execution to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying difficulties
