Academic information management system for secondary schools
Abstract
This report is about Ibanda Secondary School (IBASCO) Students Academic report generating
system that is aimed at generating Termly report for its students, designed as a standalone
desktop application that is composed of a client and a server side.
The system is based on a client-server system that is designed using entirely java programming
language. This is where a client sends a request to the server and the server gives reply to the
client.
The Ibanda Secondary School report Generating System (IBASCO AIMS) is designed in such
a way that when one logs onto the system, they receive a menu that prompts them to perform
different functions for example register, enter marks if it is a subject teacher, class teacher or
administrator, view marks or generate a report.
Unauthorized users with no username and a password have no possibility of accessing the
system. The system was developed using Java programming language on a netbeans platform
and other tools such as MySQL Workbench for designing the database and creating a script
together with MySQL Query Browser for opening the script and executing it to form the
database were used.
The system generates reports like;
• Reports of all students whose marks have been entered.
• A termly academic report for a particular student.
• Viewing marks that have been entered
• Marks for a particular student
