The findings established that barley farmers lead an average well to do lives as compared to non barley farmers. Most farmers grow barley in more than one season yearly. Majority of the farmers grow it twice in a year as compared to other crops like maize which only has one season. Majority of them earn between 2 million shillings to 5 million per season depending on the acreage and rainfall reliability. It was concluded that barley growing is a good practice. All respondents confess that with barley farming, their household incomes have increased compared to non barley farmers. Accordingly, Farmers should be given freedom to market their products through marketing boards with effective farmers’ representation. It was recommended that the government should intervene and support barley farmers with the provision of agricultural inputs, extension services, trainings, and credits among other services. It should encourage and strengthen the formation of marketing boards so that their voices can be addressed. Farmers should be given liberty to market their products without any strings attached.en_US
