dc.description.abstractThe major objective of the study is to analyze the impact of management practices on the performance of small scale enterprises using a case study of USAFI market found in Katwe. The study variables were the independent variable included organization, plan and leadership while the dependent variable included productivity, technological advancement and profitability. The Specific objective of the study were , to determine the effect of organizing to the performance of small scale businesses, to examine the role of planning in the performance of small businesses, to find out the role of leadership and performance of small business enterprises . In my literature review, a theory was used which included Transformational leadership theory. The literature was further reviewed using written work by other scholars concerning my topic, journals; this was a good support to show evidence of the problem in the statement of the problem The research used a case study design with both quantitive and qualitative approaches. The study involved a sample of 80 respondents drawn from a study population of 100 people. SPSS was used to analyze the quantitive data and to develop the tables. The conclusion of study showed most of the business operators at least were engaged in management practices which was a good sign. The data was collected using primary data which included questionnaires designed using linkert scales and secondary data got from text books, journals. The recommendation of the study was basically that Support towards small scale businesses is critical. In this regard, the central Government should put in place a framework of policies and actions designed at supporting the establishment and growth of small businesses through subsidies and tax waivers. The end result of this will significantly improve the performance of small scale businesses; improve small businesses chances to breakeven, as well as increasing the profitability margin - thereby enabling re-investment, resulting into business expansion and broadening employment opportunities in the country and the region at large.en_US
