dc.description.abstractThis research was on the impact of information and communication technology on supermarkets’ performance case study Quality supermarket in Ntinda. The research had four objectives that is to find out e-commerce, electronic inventory management, sales management system, and monitoring cameras on supermarkets’ performance. This research was based on the assertion by Jerald et al (2007) that ICT evolved substantially in the last ten years with the evidence indicating more organizational investment in ICT application given the intense pressure to compete, improve quality and customer service and lower costs. Therefore, this research was to find out the impact of ICT on the supermarkets’ performance. This research was based on the sample size of 52 out of the total population of 60 of the employees and managers. These were selected using the Krejcie and Morgan sample size selection method. The data collection methods used includes questionnaire, observation and an interview which were both qualitative and quantitative. The findings of this research showed that ICT application leads to increased sales, stock level controls, customer retention, increased customer retention and increased stock security and employees are in position to perform different tasks, improves on the quality of work. To this research, different recommendations were made which include getting a human resource manager, employing other methods ICT like use of debit cards processing, credit debits processing and e-payments. The researcher therefore suggested that further research be done on this topic in different supermarkets to especially identify those ways of ICT that are very essential for their business so that their resources are allocated efficiently.en_US
