    Abstract
    The main purpose of this research was to examine the role of training in employee performance. The study was based on the research conducted in Mantrac Uganda Limited in Kampala as the case study. It was based on four specific objectives which included: assessing the effect of the training cycle on employee performance; assessing the effect of training methods on employee performance; assessing the effects of training on employee performance and to assess the effect of training on employee motivation. The research used a variety of methodologies to collect data such as the interview guide which was administered to the human resource manager; the questionnaires were distributed amongst thirty employees from the marketing and accounting departments. The researcher also viewed literature of different authors who argued about the topic. In the findings, the research revealed that training presents many effects in employee performance not limited to development of skills, improved attitude towards work, increased knowledge about the job, commitment to the job and the company. The overall conclusion presented that the role of training employees is to increase the desirable behaviors and decrease the undesirable behaviors identified in a company with in employee performance. The researcher recommended the company to introduce more methods of training to reduce monotony and offer rewards to the employees who fully utilize the training programs
