    The effect of micro finance on the performance of SMEs

    Abstract
    This study was carried out to examine the effect of micro finance and the performance of SMEs. The study was carried out from KIDEA cooperative savings and credit society in Kiziranfumbi Sub-County Hoima district. The main objectives for this study were, To investigate the effect of interest rates and the performance of SMEs, To discover the effect of loans on the performance of SMEs and To find out the effect of repayment period on the Performance of SMEs. In the first chapter of this paper, the researcher assessed the effect of micro finance on the performance of SMEs by considering the following key areas: the background of the study, the problem statement, the research objectives, research questions and research hypotheses, the significance of the study, justification of the study, scope of the study and the conceptual framework. The second chapter of this paper examined the views of various writers about the effect of interest rates, loans and repayment period on the performance of SMEs. Chapter three of this paper contains the guidelines the researcher used for conducting the research. They include the research designs, study area, study population, sample size, sampling techniques, data collection methods and instruments, quality control, measurement of variables, data analysis and presentation, ethical consideration and study limitation. In chapter four of this paper, the researcher presented, analyzed both quantitative and qualitative data, and discussed the research findings from observations, and questionnaires in line with the objectives of the study. Chapter five of this paper, gives a summary of the findings from the researcher’s observation and the questionnaires, the chapter concludes on each of the research objectives; gives recommendations on issues to be addressed; and suggests areas for further research.
