dc.description.abstractThe study set out to investigate the relationship between motivation and the level of employee performance. The study had three objectives: To find out the role played by promotion of employees on employee performance in manufacturing businesses, to establish the relationship between health insurance policy and performance of employees in manufacturing businesses and examine the role of recognition on employee performance in manufacturing businesses. The study used a case study strategy which is Uganda Baati Limited explanatory. To achieve the set objectives the study used stratified random sampling in sample selection by grouping the employees according to management levels. There after simple random sampling was applied to select respondents. A sample of 63 respondents was selected which comprised employees of Uganda Baati Limited. The study revealed that Uganda Baati Limited carries out motivation of its employees through various ways and some of them included recognition, promotion and health and safety. The motivation tools are clearly understood by everyone in the organization. However, the study also further revealed that motivation is the major factor that affects employee performance. The study showed a direct strong and positive relationship between employee motivation and the performance of employees at Uganda baati limited which is evidenced by the Pearson correlation of (r= 0.981**), significance level =0.01. Conclusively, the researcher found out that motivation has a positive influence on employee performance therefore the management of Uganda Baati Limited should strengthens their motivation practices, so that employees perform more excellently hence attaining organizational goals. The researcher recommended that the tools Uganda baati limited uses to motivate its employees are not exactly the tools that can motivate the employees. The researcher therefore recommends that Uganda baati limited should carry out a study before using a particular toolen_US
