dc.description.abstract | The Research is basically about the role of stock management in the performance of small scale enterprise and the research was based on the case study of samona products Uganda limited and the following were the specific objectives of the study: To find out the relationship between stock taking and the performance of small scale enterprises, To ascertain the relationship between stock control and the performance of small scale enterprises in Uganda and finally to find out the relationship between shelf space management and the performance of small scale enterprises
The study used a case study design basing on the use of qualitative and quantitative approaches that were adopted to establish the relationship between stock management and performance of small scale businesses. The tools used were a questioner and an interview to collect data
The researcher used descriptive statistics, generated spss to analyze the data and inferential statistics to come up with the relationship between stock taking and the performance of small scale enterprises, stock control and the performance of small scale enterprises and finally shelf space management and the performance of small scale enterprises
Findings from the study indicated that there is a positive and insignificant relationship between stock taking and the performance of small scale enterprises, Also it was discovered there is a positive and significant relationship between stock control and the performance of small scale enterprises and also a positive and significant relationship between shelf space management and the performance of small scale enterprises.
The study concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between stock management and the performance of small scale enterprises therefore any change in stock management brings about a positive and significant change in the performance of small scale businesses. So small scale enterprises should handle stock with great care for the business to be successful.
It is recommended that organizations should continue counting its stock using both manual and computerized techniques since this will help the business hold optimal levels of stock and hence improving upon its performance in the long run..
The business should also continue controlling its stock with a lot of care and concern as this will enable the business know when to purchase the stock and when to store and also reducing on the problems of running out of stock at any time this will in turn improve upon the performance of the business.
The business should continue shelving its stock in a way that attracts customers as this will attract more customers to the business. It is also important for the business to secure enough space to store the products of the business so as to meet customer demand at any time when need arises hence this will help to improve upon the performance of the business in the long run. | en_US |
