    The effect of motivation on the performance of employees in Uganda

    Abstract
    The study on the effects of motivation on employee performance was conducted in Kawempe Division with Delight Company. The major and main objective of the study was to establish the effects of motivation on the performance of the employees. The specific objectives were to find out the effect of existence needs on the performance of employees, to establish the effect of relatedness needs on the performance of employees, to find out the effect of Growth needs on the performance of employees at Delight Company Uganda Limited. Both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used to carry out the study. Data was collected using xi questionnaires and interview guide. The study considered the population size of 60 respondents which comprised of newly recruited and retired employee, management staff, past and present clients. The data collected were analyzed using the statistical package for social science version 16.0 and findings revealed that there was positive and significant relationship between existences of needs and performance of the employees r=.475**, positive and significant relationship between relatedness needs and the performance of the employee indicated by the correlation coefficient of r=.667**and also positive and significant relationship between Growth and performance of the employees as revealed by the correlation coefficient figure of r=.667**. The study therefore, the study concludes that there is a positive and significant relationship between motivation and the performance of the employee. The study therefore recommends that management should ensure that there exists social networking of employees through encouraging team work, employees’ performance would be greatly improved at their work, management should also ensure that physical well being are extended to the employees and also Identify and fit employee needs that may improve on their performance at work, management should ensure that employees at every level of the workforce and each department in the organization has gotten ease on the improvement of work conditions, better understanding of employees concerns and needs and provide quick-fix solutions.
