dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to examine how Workplace Environment influences Performance of
Public Health Workers a case of Masaka Regional Referral Hospital. This study had Workplace
Environment as the independent variable with the dimensions of office lay out, office design and
Furniture and Employee Performance as the Depend variable with its dimensions of, Target
realization, Timeliness and Quality of service. The study was guided by the following specific
objectives; To examine the effect of Physical Environment on the Performance of Public Health
Workers, to assess the effect of Psychosocial Environment on the Performance of Public Health
Workers, to examine the effect of Work life balance on the Performance of Public Health
Workers. The study was guided by three theories namely, Affective events theory, Systems
theory, and Herzberg two factor theory.
A cross sectional research design was adopted for the study and the researcher used stratified
random sampling technique in selecting Public Health Workers. The sample size for this study
was 92 Public Health Workers obtained from a total population of 127 Public Health Workers.
Questionnaire was the main data collection instrument, in addition to the interview guide. The
study employed 92 questionnaires and a total of 87 respondents’ questionnaires were received
back representing a 94% response rate. Data was analyzed using Pearson’s correlation
coefficient.
The study findings revealed that, there is a weak positive relationship between Physical
Environment and Employee Performance; (r=0.263, p=0.014, n=87). The study findings also
revealed that, there is a weak positive relationship between Psychosocial Environment and
Employee Performance; (r=0.234, p=0.029, n=87). The study findings further revealed that, there
is a weak positive relationship between Work life balance and Employee Performance; (r=0.276,
p=0.010, n=87). | en_US |
