    Abstract
This paper sought to examine the relationship between using Computer-based Information System (CBIS) and performance of organizations. It investigates the extent to which the expected impacts of the use of CBIS have been achieved by establishing the actual and the expected impact of CBIS on organizational performance with specific reference to Uganda Martyrs University as an institution of higher education. In the first chapter, the researcher assessed the impact of the use of computer-based information system on the organization’s performance by considering the following key areas: the background of the study; the statement of the study problem; the objectives of the study; research questions; scope of the study; the significance of the study; definitions of terms used; and the conceptual framework. The second chapter of this paper examined the views of various writers on the impact of Computer-based Information Systems such as Library Automation System, Electronic Learning Management System, and Transaction Processing System, on an Organization’s Performance. Chapter three of this paper contains the guidelines the researcher has used for conducting the research. They include the research designs used, study population, sampling design, sample size, methods of data collection and how their reliability has been ensured, instruments used for data collection, procedures followed, data analysis approach and data validity. In chapter four of this paper, the researcher presented, analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively, and discussed the research findings from observations, interview, and questionnaires in line with the objectives of the study. Chapter five, the last chapter of the paper, gives a summary of the findings from his observation, interviews and the questionnaires; concludes on each of the research objectives; gives recommendations to the organization on issues to be addressed; and suggests areas for further research
